Cop Car Workshop is a British TV programme providing an incite into a police car workshop in Cheshire.

They got in a brand new BMW 3 Series, 258bhp 33oD Xdrive, automatic. A £43,550 (though they almost certainly didn’t pay that much.

£10,000 worth of work done fitting ANPR cameras, GPS tracking devices, computer systems, etc... taking 52 hours of work.

13 days and less than 2,000 miles later.

Chased five youths in a stolen car.

LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AND 2,000 MILES.

Now scrapped.

If I could chose which cars the Mexico City police force got, I’d get them a couple of Stingers (the base model with the v6) for highway patrols, I’d get them Niros as patrol cars, and I’d also love to get them some wagons, BMWs are too expensive, but I’d rather like it if some response vehicles were SEAT wagons instead of RAM trucks.

I find it odd that the UK police use a German car for patrol. Obviously i don’t expect them to be rolling around in Rovers or...well whatever else is British, but BMWs seem unnecessary. Monedo, perhaps?

We have all manner of vehicles here.

These are used by RPUs (road policing units) because they are powerful enough for pursuits.

Well, I’ll be dammed if that six bot diesel can’t keep up with most cars... it seems appropriate, here most cars are V8 chargers.

Mondeos are built in Belgium. Either way British police forces haven’t got the budget to be nationalistic. They use whatever is available which can be interesting...

We use all manner of vehicles for police use.

Vauxhalls, VWs, Skodas, Fords, Mercedes, etc...

Sorry - was in a hurry as I was heading out the door and glanced too quickly - I thought the wrecked Astras in the pic were ALSO the other two BMWs from the first pic and was wondering how all three were wrecked in one police chase after one car :P

They were built in Belgium! Not any more as they shut the factory in Genk and moved to Spain.
